A red triangular warning symbol displaying an exclamation point

Dear Colleagues,

We have been made aware of a scam currently circulating in which an individual is fraudulently impersonating Mr. Duan Claassen, Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement South Africa (DCSA) t/a Sephaku Cement. The impersonator is contacting people via WhatsApp, requesting that money be deposited into a personal account.

We strongly caution all employees, contractors, and stakeholders not to respond to any such messages or engage with individuals claiming to represent Mr. Claassen or any other DCSA official in this manner.

Please take note of the following:

  • Do not engage with or respond to any suspicious messages requesting money or assistance.
  • Do not share your own or colleagues’ cellphone numbers without first confirming directly with the person concerned.
  • Do not assume that a message is legitimate just because it uses a familiar name.
  • DCSA Management and its authorised representatives will never request any personal payments, deposits, or financial transactions from customers, suppliers, employees, or contractors via WhatsApp, SMS, or unofficial channels.

If you have received any suspicious communication or been approached in this manner, please report it without delay to the DCSA Internal Audit Department at [aradebe@sepcem.co.za or 012 684 6300].

Let us all remain vigilant and do our part in preventing fraudulent activity within and around DCSA. Your cooperation and alertness are greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Alfred Radebe

Head of Internal Audit
